One year ago...
I was checked into the hospital.
Happy.
Hopeful.
Naive.
One year ago...
They induced me a second time,
and told me the contractions would start in the morning.
One year ago...
We debated names with the nurses.
I stayed up all night excited,
Daddy fell asleep on the cot beside me.
One year ago...
We anxiously awaited your arrival.
I was sure you were a boy,
and we finally settled on the name Finn.
One year ago...
We still had our innocence.
We were so young then,
so very, very young.
One year ago...
We knew everything was about to change,
and imagined the wonderful ways
that you would impact our lives.
One year ago...
Was the last day our life was normal.
We lay in wait unknowing,
of the storm up ahead.
One year ago...
I was your mother.
Why didn't I sense what was happening?

I've been thinking about you all week as you approach Peyton's birthday. I too wonder the same thing. How did I not know something was so very, very wrong. I sensed something was not quite right, but I never imagined the outcome to be what it was. I never would've thought that my baby had a fatal condition.
I'm wishing you lots of strength to get through tomorrow. I feel panicked to think of celebrating Freja's birthday without her here. Many ((hugs)) my friend.

Ill be thinking of you this weekend. Its funny how we measure time now. This month they'd have been, its been such and such amount of time since, So many hours and minutes untill... I guess thats the watch that we all wear in our angels memories. We cant help it. I hope your hurt is eased some this weekend with all the prayers being sent your way as you mark this milestone.
