I am so upset. Tonight at 10:15 I had to do my trigger shot for IVF (retrieval is scheduled for Thursday AM) and the powder that it gets mixed with just wouldn't dissolve. It took me until 10:22 to finally get it mixed and injected. Everything I have been told and read says that this has to be done at the EXACT time assigned. I am totally freaking out now that I could have cost myself this whole cycle over seven stupid minutes. I just want to cry.

Thanks all for your kind messages of support. I met with the RE office this morning, and they explained that, though not ideal, they don't believe it will have a negative impact on tomorrow's retrieval. Thank you all so much for helping to put my mind at ease.

I think you're OK. When I did my trigger shot, I had to wait 5 - 10 minutes for the powder to totally dissolve too. I'm sure your ET won't be EXACTLY at the time scheduled either. It's OK, don't worry so much.
I have never had a trigger shot, but I would be VERY surprised to hear that 7 minutes was going to make a big difference?
I think they mean the EXACT time as in not two hours later? I think that kind of explanation is meant for those of us in lazier countries that have expressions like "just now" which could mean in three days time.

Hi honey - Im sorry you are so upset. Having been through this 3 times, I think it will be fine, just let them know when you arrive at your appt, or call if you need to know for sure. We were at a restaurant when we triggered the 2nd IVF (the one that brought me my girls) and had to wait for someone to get out of the bathroom for 5 minutes past...I think they just want you to not be way over the timeframe to make your ER appt delayed, 7 minutes is ok! Don't worry. Just make sure to tell them that you took it at 10:22 instead of 10:15. In my experience, they aren't running that close to the wire with the egg retrievals that 7 minutes will make a difference. I think they stress the exact time thing so much so that people won't randomly take their trigger injections 3 hours early.
If it makes you feel better, call the clinic today and let them know. I would think they would be able to adjust your retrieval time if they felt it was needed. They don't want you to lose this cycle either.

You will be ok.... Same thing happened to me. On top of that .. I took my trigger shot then got a call from my DR. office that my DR was actually in the ER!!! So here I am stuffed with hormones.. trigger shot I did late crying now becuase my Dr won't even be there.... It all works out. My retrieval happened just as it should.. they did not care about the few min I was late. Deep breath and listen to the rest and relaxation meditation!!! GOOD LUCK. I am so excited for you!

i'm with the others , i have to do mine in 6 days and i'm sure that if accuracy of time was so important they wouldn't leave it up to us to do it at home on our own. they would factor in at least an hour either side .how exciting for you though to be so close to finishing, i can't wait to get to where you are, sending lots of happy fertiisation vibes your way, warm hugs, anne xxx

I was almost 15 minutes late on my trigger shot and it still worked for us. So please dont panic. There is a little room in there. I am still praying everyday for you and my friend who are going through the same thing. Infertility is one of the hardest things you can go through, but after losing Peyton I know you have the strength to get through because nothing is more difficult then the loss of a child.
I think it will be okay. I think they want it to be within an hour window. Besides, when they do your Retrieval, sometimes they are the ones running a few minutes late. You may just want to let them know just in case, and they can start getting those little follies out at 10:22. :)
